Here is an answer to another interesting question which came to me involving “Access Checkboxes”.
I have created a number of yes/no instances … but when i drag in the control button it is only a button to either click or not click. I want to have a checkmark where you click yes or you have a separate check mark box for no, and this will return to the underlying table the “yes” or “no” in the proper field. Currently the checked box returns Yes and unchecked gives no, which works, but an student will be entering all the data so I need it to be as clear as possible.
OK so this post will provide some pictures covering how to do this task of adding 2 checkboxes to update 1 field.
Step 1: Table With Checkbox
Our little sample table has a checkbox:
Step 2: Check Boxes In Option Frame
Now add an option frame to your form.
An option frame will cause 1 checkbox to be deselected when another checkbox is selected.
Whatever is in the frame will work as a unit.
…and since these are unbound controls we’ll be responding to the checkbox’s “MouseDown” event (it works like the click event on Bound controls)
Step 3: Code The MouseDown Event
Here is the code you can use…
Private Sub chkNo_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
Me.YesNo= False
End Sub
Private Sub chkYes_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
Me.YesNo= True
End Sub
Then you can do the same for all your other access form’s checkboxes.
