What Is The Access VBA NZ Function
The Access VBA NZ function allows you to test for values with zero length.
It is unique with Access, as far as I know, no other language has this type of function, and you’ll have to make your own.
If you want to check if a variable is blank, you should check the length (contents) of the variable:
If variable = {blank} then
true
else
false
end if
What is NZ in access?
Like I already stated, the Access NZ function checks for blank (null) values.
It also substitutes a value if the variable is blank.
ex:
NZ(var,”not blank var”)
This is useful when you are running an append query, and some of the values you are trying to insert are blank.
insertthis: nz(field, “blank val”)
Is null in VBA Access?
If you don’t want to use the NZ function, you could just use the IsNull function. You just have to do a little more work, but it basically works the same way.
if isnull(variable) then
variable=”blank”
else
variable=”not blank”
end if
How do I use IIF in access?
The IIF is also unique to Access. It stands for “immediate if”. Anyway, Excel uses just basic “If”, but Access has to be different:
ex.
iif(variable = “”, “blank”, “not blank”)
What does NULL mean access?
NULL in Access means “blank”
Any questions?
